The current interest in nuclear technologies in the Netherlands strongly raises the demand for nuclear support and safety assessments. In the thermal-hydraulics team in Arnhem we are looking for a new colleague , with experience in conducting thermal-hydraulic analysis using system codes like RELAP, TRAC or TRACE. The team models the thermal behavior of reactors (existing and new build powerplants and/or research reactors), radiation facilities, experiments as well as for reactor concepts under development, like liquid metal cooled or molten salt reactors. Thermal-Hydraulic safety engineer

You will be working on projects to support the safe design or modification of these nuclear systems. You will build the model, define the scenario’s to evaluate, determine the acceptance criteria and perform simulations to show conformance to these criteria. You will be taking part in multidisciplinary project teams together with specialists from other teams in CFD, neutronics, mechanics, operations and/or engineering, but always in close-cooperation with your direct colleagues from thermal-hydraulics. Reporting the results with proper justification, clearly explaining the possible issues and providing solutions is an important part of your job. Needless to say that you will be well coached by your more experienced colleagues and there will be ample opportunity for training & education.
Profile
- Master or doctor degree in e.g. nuclear, mechanical or aeronautical engineering;
- Several years of experience in thermal-hydraulic modelling of (nuclear) installations;
- Experience in safety assessment in general or genuinely interested to further develop these skills;
- Strong in oral and written communication in English (knowledge of Dutch is an advantage but not required);
- Inquisitive and pro-active;
- Focused on quality;
- Structured and organized.
